Liverpool got supporters excited on Thursday morning as they prepared for their annual team photograph.

The Reds posted some teaser videos showing both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk wandering around in full kit.

As seeing players wearing kit and boots is a strange occurrence at the AXA Training Centre, speculation started to spread that the captain and his deputy were in the middle of some kind of new contract announcement.

However, that was soon put to an end, as it was cleared up that Thursday was actually the Liverpool squad photo day.

Along with Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk, all of their teammates were fully kitted up, with Arne Slot and his coaching team also in matchday gear.

So, no new contracts for the star Liverpool duo. Not today, anyway. But there was something new spotted on Thursday after all. Alisson Becker has gone clean-shaven.

Alisson shaves off the beard

We all know the feeling of school photo day at the start of a new year. Your hair has to be done just right, uniform perfectly ironed.

Given how seriously the Liverpool players take their fashion these days, new squad photo day is just as serious.

Well-known for changing his look every so often since he joined the Reds in 2018, Alisson decided that the occasion called for a clean approach.

After sporting his customary bushy black beard during Tuesday’s win over AC Milan, the goalkeeper has come home and taken drastic action.

As seen in a video posted on the official Liverpool X account, not a single hair now adorns Alisson’s chin.

Spotted laughing and joking with Alexis Mac Allister, the 31-year-old looks completely different as he prepares for his seventh annual photoshoot with the Reds.

We look forward to seeing the full results later on. Whatever look Alisson is going with, he tends to pull it off!

Who will be involved in Liverpool’s squad photo?

After so many years of Jurgen Klopp being slap-bang in the middle of Liverpool’s team photos, this is another little milestone for Slot to pass.

The squad is still very much Klopp’s in some respect, but he is already putting his own stamp on it.

One thing that will be interesting to note is which players from the Liverpool academy make it onto the photograph on Thursday.

The two to perhaps keep an eye on are Tyler Morton and Trey Nyoni. Both midfielders are yet to be used by Slot this season, but the pair were kept around while other youngsters were shipped off.

Inclusion on Thursday will likely signal that the head coach has them well in his plans. Failure to appear will mean little for 17-year-old Nyoni, but could be a real blow for Morton’s chances of playing a part this season.

Even just for the chance to see Alisson’s baby-face up close, we hope for their sake’s they’re both included!
