FA Cup fourth-round draw in full: Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea learn their fate
Today at 01:08 PM
Clubs up and down the country discovered their FA Cup fate as the draw for the fourth round was made in the immediate aftermath of Manchester United’s stunning penalty-shootout win over Arsenal.
The third round lived up to its billing as one of the highlights of the English football calendar, delivering plenty of thrills and spills, with League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers upsetting Portsmouth to kick off the drama on Friday evening.
It’s been a miserable season for Plymouth in the Championship but the Pilgrims pulled off arguably the biggest shock of the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
Last year’s runners-up Manchester City sailed through with an emphatic 8-0 thrashing of neighbours Salford City, while defending champions United were dumped out by 14-time winners Arsenal.
Liverpool and Chelsea both cruised through in comfortable fashion, beating Accrington Stanley and Morecambe respectively, while Tottenham survived an almighty scare to see off National League Tamworth in extra time.
Elsewhere, seven-time winners Aston Villa knocked out West Ham in Friday’s all-Premier League affair and Nottingham Forest extended their extraordinary winning streak with victory over Luton Town.
Shortly after United’s epic win of Arsenal, the balls were drawn for the third round proper of the competition and the draw threw up several intriguing ties, which are set to take place between February 7 and 10.
