Irrespective of whether the transfer window is open or closed, transfer links continue to fly in for Manchester United. The Red Devils, despite a blockbuster transfer window, continue to be linked with new arrivals.

Dan Ashworth seems to be working overtime to ensure that Erik ten Hag has more reinforcements on the way in upcoming transfer windows.

The squad still needs bolstering in different areas and the club will need two or three proper windows to get it done.

For a long time now, Man Utd have been admirers of Dusan Vlahovic, the Juventus star striker. Last summer, they were willing to sign him as their new number nine but eventually settled on Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.

Now, as per FT, Old Trafford coach and legend Ruud van Nistlerooy has made it his ambition to sign the 24-year-old Serbian and work with him at Old Trafford. Valued at around £43.4m, the Red Devils will have to open the cheque-book for this signing.

The issue for Manchester United is that they already have two young strikers – Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Signing another young striker, however talented he may be, does not make much sense as Ten Hag plays a single-striker formation.

It’s unlikely that the Red Devils consider selling either the Dane or the Dutchman as both are big talents in their own right. Despite Ruud’s wish to get Vlahovic to Man Utd, spending money on him currently will not be the best option.

It remains to be seen what the club thinks about this Vlahovic opportunity in the coming months. Man Utd have other areas to address where the funds can be better utilized but let’s wait and see how this saga pans out.
