For some, Rangers heading to take on one of the biggest clubs in the world in Manchester United could be seen as a free hit.

A chance to head south with the pressure off and have a go at one of the big boys with no fear of what could happen if it all goes wrong.

Not for Philippe Clement.

The Gers boss WANTS pressure on his side ahead of the Europa League clash. And he wants his men to thrive on it and use it to help them reach for the stars.

Clement had words of praise for his Rangers academy talents involved during the win over Fraserburgh yesterday.

And also for Cyriel Dessers, who fired in a hat-trick and even donned the captain’s armband despite exit murmurings.

Now attention turns to the Red Devils ahead of the penultimate league phase match at Old Trafford, with the Light Blues still needing to ensure qualification to the knockouts.

Clement on Manchester United vs Rangers pressure

Rangers earned a draw against Tottenham at Ibrox, but going away to a Premier League big gun is a different kettle of fish. Even with this team being described as Manchester United’s ‘worst ever’.

Gers always seem to have a chance in this competition though and their will be at least a sliver of hope that they can get something.

And Clement is rejecting any notion of it being a ‘free hit’.

Asked that question, he said: "I want pressure, to be very clear. I want pressure. I want pressure on the team.

“I want my team to be ambitious. And if we are somewhere, that we have higher ambitions to make it better. So, that’s what we’re going to do.

"The team has worked really hard to be in a good position in this Europa League. They did really well in this Europa League.

“We know what Manchester United are. We know their level. But we’re going to go there to fight and to show ourselves and to do something really special.

“That’s our ambition, to go there and to do something special."

What Ruben Amorim said about ‘worst ever’ Manchester United

"In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two," Amorim told Sky Sports.

"Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. So we are getting a new coach that is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.

"Like I said, I'm not going to change, no matter what. I know we can succeed, but we need to survive this moment. Because I'm not naive and I know that we need to survive now.

"We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know that you want headlines, but I'm saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that.

"Here you go, your headlines."
