Connor Barron was never going to win any friends in Aberdeen when he agreed to move to Rangers.

But to turn an entire city searing red with envy, well it'll only win him friends in Govan.

The 21-year-old Scotland youth international reportedly turned down the chance to move to England or Italy to sign on the dotted line in Glasgow.

It's a moment which has sent Aberdeen a startling reminder of their place in the Scottish football food chain and they don't particularly like it.

And now their internal crisis over the Connor Barron transfer has taken a fresh twist as several of Aberdeen's former players congratulate their old teammate after the switch to Rangers.

Barron receives outpouring of Aberdeen support

Connor Barron has admitted that he's not big on social media.

In refreshing comments which are in stark contrast to several in the Rangers squad, the Pittodrie youth graduate says he likes to do his talking on he pitch.

But social media is also substantially more hassle than it's worth and Barron has courted controversy simply by providing an update after being officially unveiled at Rangers.

In the post, Barron said he is 'delighted to sign for this massive football club'.

Whilst Aberdeen fans lick their wounds over the transfer, the news that several of the club's former players have been congratulating Connor Barron over the move is not set to go down well.

Here is how some former Dons stars responded to Connor Barron's latest Instagram post:

Rangers want second Pittodrie transfer

If Rangers had it their way, Aberdeen's pain wouldn't end with Connor Barron either.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers hold a genuine interest in star player Bojan Miovski as the Ibrox club look to bolster their forward line heading into next season.

But as things stand a deal is 'highly unlikely' because of the Dons' ransom demands over the North Macedonian striker.

The report claims Rangers are 'wary' of being held to ransom by a hurting Aberdeen who have threatened the Ibrox side with a tribunal over Connor Barron.

The Dons were always going to be unreasonable in their demands after the Gers dealt them the hammer blow of snapping up Barron from under their noses.

CEO Alan Burrows hasn't won any friends at Ibrox with the comments which appeared to be designed to appease the most extreme elements of the Aberdeen support.

Whatever way the Dons want to look at it, Connor Barron is a Rangers player and they should show a little class and dignity about the midfielder moving on to bigger and better things.

Perhaps they should accept their position in the food chain too and strike a reasonable price for Bojan Miovski.

Otherwise, like Scott Wright, Ryan Jack and Connor Barron before him, the Gers might just be willing to wait to pinch him on the cheap.
