It has been claimed Rangers have an interest in Lennon Miller but it remains to be seen if that will be followed up.

The Motherwell teenager has been a standout in the Premiership, not only this season but during the last one as well.

A mature head on young shoulders, the 18-year-old will certainly move on from Fir Park at some point and it is starting to look like that will be sooner rather than later.

Rangers have been credited with an interest but that is as far as it has apparently gone at this stage.

Motherwell chief in Miller warning

Motherwell chief executive Brian Caldwell is pragmatic enough to know that Lennon Miller will leave the club at some point, such is his undoubted potential.

But the Fir Park supremo has issued a defiant warning to Rangers and other interested parties.

He insists the 18-year-old will not be sold on the cheap and that the Steelmen are determined to hold onto him for as long as they can.

Only when they feel they’re getting the right deal will they be persuaded to sell.

Caldwell said: "We are all realistic to realise there will come a time when Lennon will move on. He is an extremely talented player who we all see every week.

"But that time will only come when the deal is right for the club and the player. We have a really good relationship with his agent. We spoke only last week.

"We're not in a rush to sell Lennon, we don't need to sell him.

"But it's not all about us, it's about Lennon too. He is playing games every week which is the most important thing for his development and if he continues to develop the way he is we understand for his own development he'd probably need to go to a higher level.

"We need to bide our time and make sure when that time comes it's the right deal for the club and the player."

Liverpool interest in Motherwell star Miller

It was this week reported that Liverpool had joined the race for Miller.

The Reds have joined fellow Premier League side Southampton in looking at the 18-year-old, while Crystal Palace were previously mentioned.

It has also been suggested a move abroad would suit, for example to Italy where a number of Scottish players have gone and flourished.

Motherwell were said to be looking for a fee in excess of the record £3million they got from Celtic for David Turnbull.

And the The Daily Mail have reported the Steelmen would be holding out for £4m on this occasion, so that would seem to be the price required to lure him to Ibrox.
