The one thing Rangers still haven't done this season that every other Premiership team has

It’s safe to say as we approach the end of the final international break of 2024 that it’s been a depressing start to the season for Rangers.
Before we even get to the on-field issues, the problems the club are facing off the park seem to mount by the month, sometimes by the week.
It started with the Ibrox fiasco in the summer, departures from key positions upstairs that leaves Rangers with no permanent chairman or CEO, the club’s stark financial situation – the list goes on and on.
While fans are absolutely concerned with these difficulties, they are compounded by what they are watching on the park headed up by under-fire manager Philippe Clement.
He has Rangers severely underperforming in the Premiership as they sit third in league after 11 games and currently nine points behind both Celtic and Aberdeen.
Granted, Rangers scraped their way into the Premier Sports Cup final and are doing fairly well in Europe. But general performances across the board are boring a disgruntled fanbase to tears.
Rangers have actually scored only 16 goals in the league this season so far, with five more teams having netted more – that really does say it all about the product on the park.
But what is perhaps more shocking, or simply indicative of the lack of firepower in the team bar the much-maligned Cyriel Dessers, is that Gers have failed to do one thing this season that every other club in the top-flight has.
Rangers can’t score from set-pieces this season
And quite simply, that is failing to score from a set-piece. Not one Rangers goal in the league this season has been converted via a free-kick, corner or throw-in.
Analysis by The Rangers Review has brought this worrying stat to light. Data shows that Rangers’ set-piece xG per 90 minutes this season is just 0.3, meaning clear chances from set-pieces are not being created virtually at all.
Compare those stats to last season when Rangers scored 0.24 goals from set-pieces, it is without doubt a massive drop-off.
Overall 2024/25 Premiership set-piece stats
Motherwell and Hearts lead with way with seven goals scored from set-pieces this season, that’s half of the Jambos’ league goals overall.
They are followed by St Johnstone and Hibs on six while Aberdeen have netted five goals. Then it’s Ross County, Kilmarnock and Celtic on three with St Mirren scoring just twice.
Both Dundee clubs have just one goal apiece scored from set-pieces but it’s still one more than Rangers who sit rock bottom of the leaderboard.
This is what Philippe Clement had to say about set-pieces in February after being asked specifically if he would consider hiring a set-piece specialist.
The Belgian said: "No, because I love set pieces and that is a thing of the past but is also a reason, I think I played a lot of games as I scored a lot of goals from set pieces so I will not give away that part."
