Stoke City winger Andre Vidigal had offers from Turkey and Qatar late in the transfer window, as detailed in a report by StokeOnTrentLive.

Stoke City kept hold of the attacker in the end beyond the deadline last Friday. He is under contract with the Championship side until June 2026.

Vidigal, 26, joined the Potters last year and scored seven goals in 31 appearances in all competitions during his first year in England. However, his long-term future in Staffordshire has been up in the air over recent times.

In this latest update regarding his situation by StokeOnTrentLive, the player had ‘lucrative’ proposals from teams in both Turkey and Qatar late last month. The identity of the clubs are unknown at this stage but nothing materialised in the end and he remains with Steven Schumacher’s side.

The likes of Ryan Mmaee, Daniel Johnson and Josh Laurent have left the Bet365 Stadium over recent times to free up space and funds in their ranks.

Vidigal gives Stoke City more competition and depth going forward.

He was snapped up by the Potters just over 12 months ago to add more quality to their options on the wing.

The former Portugal youth international started his career at O Elvas and Academica before moving over to Holland to join Fortuna Sittard as a youngster.

Vidigal went on to play 45 games for the Dutch side and found the net on 15 occasions, helping them gain promotion to the Eredivisie in his first year.

He was loaned out twice to APOEL in Cyprus and then to Estoril before heading to Maritimo on a permanent basis.

The Elvas-born man was a key player during his time at Estádio do Marítimo and scored nine goals in 73 outings for the Portuguese top flight club before moving to Stoke City.

What next for Stoke City?

Some transfer windows remain open such as Turkey’s and Greece’s.

Vidigal is still a Potters’ player though and is available for selection for Schumacher as things stand.

Stoke City won 1-0 away at Plymouth Argyle last time out so have gone into the international break in good spirits.

They are back in action on Saturday 14th September with a trip to the Kassam Stadium to take on newly promoted Oxford United.

The Potters then take on Hull City in their next home game on Friday 20th September under the lights.
