'We have to' – Stoke City injury update shared by Narcis Pelach ahead of Sheffield Wednesday trip

Stoke City boss Narcis Pelach has said they will have to ‘check’ on the injury status of Million Manhoef.
Stoke City are back in Championship action this weekend with an away trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday. They drew 2-2 at home to Cardiff City last time out with Andy Moran and Ben Gibson on the scoresheet.
Manhoef, 22, went off for the Potters during their clash against the Bluebirds with an issue with his knee.
In this latest update regarding his condition, Pelach has said, as per a report by StokeOnTrentLive: “He said he was ok at first to continue and the medical staff decided he was fine but after two or three minutes more he was not feeling well and we had to sub him. We have to check it.”
Stoke City are currently sat in 17th place in the Championship table and are five points above the drop zone.
Stoke City injury latest
Manhoef has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Stoke City and has chipped in with five goals and three assists.
A report by Football League World suggested last week that he was on the radar of some unnamed Premier League sides.
He is under contract at the Bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2027 so the Potters are under no pressure to sell him next month.
Stoke City signed Manhoef in February 2024 on a three-and-a-half year contract.
He was brought in by the Potters in the last campaign to bolster their attacking department and inject quality into their ranks.
Prior to his move to England, he spent eight years on the books at Vitesse.
The ex-Holland youth international rose up through the ranks of the Dutch team and went on to play 88 times for their first-team, finding the net on 15 occasions.
Manheof said in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad (via Sport Witness) earlier this year that he wants to play at the highest level: “That still stands, and I am quite on schedule (to reach the Premier League). I am a starter at Stoke, but the season is long with 46 games. Quite fun, because you want to play football. The most important thing is to stay fit.“
What now?
Stoke City will need to see how he is over the next few days and make a decision ahead of Saturday.
They will be eager to return to winning ways against Sheffield Wednesday.
