Stoke City face Millwall on Saturday afternoon as Narcis Pelach’s side look to go into the international break on a high.

Stoke City are starting to gain some momentum under their new boss and will be looking to make it three Championship wins in a row when they welcome Millwall to Staffordshire this weekend.

The Potters narrowly defeated Derby County last weekend, winning 2-1. A strong performance against Blackburn Rovers made it two in a row, winning 2-0 at Ewood Park.

It means Narcis Pelach has now overseen just one defeat in the last seven Championship games. Three draws and the sole defeat in that time leave them 14th in the table but they could move as high as 8th if they win here and other results go their way.

Millwall are sure to be a real test for Stoke City though. Neil Harris’ side have won the last four games 1-0 to rise all the way up to 6th.

Stoke City team news

Pelach has a few players who will miss the visit of Luton Town but there could be positive news regarding Ben Wilmot. He missed the Blackburn Rovers win as he recovered from illness but it was said before the midweek triumph that if he was absent on Wednesday, he would almost certainly return this weekend.

Michael Rose, who had also suffered illness, came on off the bench against Rovers.

Bosun Lawal is making big steps forward in his bid for a Potters debut but time will be taken with his recovery, while Lynden Gooch could be back later this month.

Sam Gallagher is on the comeback trail but will not feature and Ben Pearson is a long-term absentee.

Predicted XI

(4-4-1-1)

Johansson; Wilmot, Phillips, Gibson, Stevens; Manhoef, Burger, Moran, Koumas; Bae; Cannon.

Stoke City players with illness will only return when 100% and with Wilmot highly likely to be involved, it will be expected that he takes the starting berth back from youngster Junior Tchamadeu.

Otherwise though, with Pelach seemingly locking down his strongest starting XI, it could be very similar to the side that beat Blackburn Rovers in the week.

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

Ashley Phillips has impressed at the heart of defence and fellow loan man Andy Moran makes for a good partner for Wouter Burger. Lewis Koumas and Million Manhoef will likely start on the wings.

Further forward, Bae Jun-ho will play just off Tom Cannon as he links midfield and attack.
