Halmstads BK’s Yannick Agnero could be an option for Sunderland in the winter market, according to a Christmas report.

The 21-year-old joined the Swedish club from FC Nordsjælland in the summer window and has scored four goals from 11 games for them.

Even though the striker’s statistics aren’t that impressive, Sunderland have taken notice of his performances for Halmstads.

That’s at least what 225 Foot are reporting, and they state the Championship side are keen on securing his services in January.

Sunderland are in contention to secure promotion to the Premier League as they are now fourth in the table with 43 points, trailing second placed Leeds United by two points and five behind leaders Sheffield United.

In order to improve their chances of returning to the top division, Régis Le Bris’ side are looking at a few players to improve their squad. This includes the Ivorian, and the Black cats are keeping a close eye on him.

The report further adds Sunderland, who are keen about Agnero, are considering signing him next month.

Agnero’s deal at Halmstads lasts until December 2027, but 225 Foot say he shouldn’t ‘last long’ there. This would encourage Sunderland, if they have a concrete plan to make an offer for him in January.
