Ange explains Sergio Reguilon inclusion as three Spurs players don't travel for Ferencvaros

Ange Postecoglou has explained his reasons for taking Sergio Reguilon along as part of the Tottenham squad to face Ferencvaros.

The Lilywhites face the Hungarian champions in their second league phase match following a 3-0 win over Qarabag last time out.

But they'll have to do so without a number of key players. Radu Dragusin, for example, is suspended after being sent off against Qarabag, while Destiny Udogie pulled up injured against Manchester United and Son Heung-min is still not ready to be risked.

"Destiny hasn't travelled. Nothing significant, but didn't make sense to bring him if he wasn't going to play. Radu is suspended and Sonny is back in London doing rehab," Postecoglou told reporters at his press conference on Wednesday (via Football.London).

One of the more eye-catching names on Tottenham's flight manifesto was Reguilon.

The 27-year-old Spaniard spent the previous two seasons away from the club on loan at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford, respectively.

Upon his return, Reguilon's only inclusion in a matchday squad was as an unused substitute in the EFL Cup win over Coventry. Meanwhile, he hasn't been included in Tottenham's Europa League squad having effectively been deemed surplus to requirements and likely to exit in January.

But Reguilon has made the trip out to Hungary, with Postecoglou explaining that the left-back is required to help those who will face Ferencvaros prepare.

"Sergio [Reguilon] is a Tottenham player, that's why he's here," Postecoglou stated, adding: "We like to have 20 players for training, we've also brought some young players. They had a game last night and we didn't want to disrupt them too much."
