Club not interested in Wolves enquiry for player – Tottenham's preferential option sees transfer demands rise

Real Betis will not contemplate a deal for Johnny Cardoso this month, with Tottenham retaining an option on him and Wolverhampton Wanderers asking making enquiries.
That's according to Marca, who say the Spanish side are not considering selling Cardoso despite the Premier League interest in him.
They say that Wolves have tried to sign the American this month but his departure in January is not on the cards for Betis.
They targeted Cardoso after not being able to sign Manu Silva, who went to Benfica instead. They knocked on the midfielder's door to 'study the possibility' of transfer this month.
But Betis aren't interested as they have a very clear roadmap for the player. Only a clear off-market proposal that far exceeds €25m would convince them otherwise. €25m is the price Tottenham have to pay as part of their 'preferential right' on the midfielder.
They negotiated that clause in the summer when selling Giovani Lo Celso to Betis and still hold it at this moment in time.
The Spanish side aren't going to sell for below that at any point and so have dismissed Wolves' interest this month out of hand.
Of course, perhaps those in charge at Molineux will return with a mega bid to tempt their Spanish counterparts. That could even lead Tottenham to taking up their option.
Until that happens, though, Betis are remaining calm. They don't want to sell and don't need to sell either.
