Harry Kane is reportedly eyeing a return to the Premier League, but a fairytale reunion with Tottenham Hotspur does not appear to be the most likely outcome.
Instead, Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for the England captain.
Kane, who left Spurs for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 in a €95 million transfer, is said to be keen on finishing his career in England.
Harry Kane considering Premier League return but not to Tottenham
According to reports from El Nacional, the 31-year-old striker is 'seriously considering' a move back to the Premier League at the end of the season, with Liverpool emerging as his preferred destination.
It is suggested that Kane is tempted by the project under new Reds boss Arne Slot.
If Liverpool push to sign Kane, the player's willingness could end up being decisive, with the report stating that a move to the Merseyside club 'could alter the balance of power' in the Premier League.
Since making the switch to the Bundesliga, Kane has continued his exceptional form, registering 32 goals and 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this season.
His goalscoring exploits have kept Bayern in contention for both the Bundesliga and Champions League titles—providing him with the silverware opportunity that eluded him at Tottenham.
Harry Kane's Tottenham legacy
Kane's impact at Tottenham remains unparalleled. After breaking into the first team during the 2014–15 season, he went on to become one of the world's top strikers.
In February 2023, he surpassed Jimmy Greaves to become Spurs' all-time leading goalscorer with 267 goals. By the time he left, he had accumulated 280 goals and 61 assists in 435 appearances.
Despite his individual brilliance, Spurs' all-time top scorer left North London without a major trophy. While his return to England is now on the cards, Tottenham are not currently viewed as frontrunners to re-sign him.
Spurs attempted to fill the void left by Kane's departure by bringing in Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth last summer.
However, injuries and inconsistency have hampered Solanke's ability to replicate Kane's influence.
