Tottenham bound youngster Luka Vuskovic has admitted he headed on loan to Belgium this season as he hopes to be given a Premier League chance this year.

The 17-year-old has been speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, via Voetbal Primeur, admitting he has the Premier League in his sights in the near future.

The 17-year-old is currently on loan at KVC Westerlo, joining them in the summer in a loan deal from Hajduk Split.

He'll be spending the season with the Belgian side before heading to Tottenham in July, with Spurs agreeing to sign him for €11m.

He's one of several youngsters that Tottenham targeted last summer as they looked to plan for the future with players they can develop.

Vuskovic has been enjoying himself on loan so far, with six goals and one assists in 21 games in the Jupiler Pro League to date despite being a centre-back.

That's impressive, particularly for someone who doesn't turn 18 until February 24th and it seems he's happy with his development thus far. It won't, though, stop him from his ultimate aim, playing in the Premier League this year, presumably with Tottenham.

“I hope to play in the Premier League this year,” he said.

“The Belgian competition is a good step. In terms of ‘workload’, we are not inferior to England, only the pace and the intensity there are higher.

“Speed is important. Not so much your maximum speed, that is mainly talent, but your explosiveness. I work on that every morning in the gym. My Croatian Personal Coach sends me my program every day via WhatsApp.”
