Manchester City’s summer transfer window is yet to really get up and running with the reigning champions still recovering after a grueling campaign.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle have now officially departed the club but no major exits have been sanctioned just yet.

Pep Guardiola’s side may still have the 115 charges hanging over their heads, but they are not at risk of this month’s PSR deadline meaning no drastic sales need to be made.

TBR Football understands that Julian Alvarez‘s representatives have told interested parties that they do not see a way which Manchester City will allow him to leave the club this summer.

Chelsea keen on summer swoop for Julian Alvarez

Sources have confirmed to TBR that Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are amongst the sides who have been spoke to by the player’s camp – claiming he is keen to move

Alvarez held talks with City boss Pep Guardiola after the season when he made it clear he wanted to be a key player going forward and it is understood he received assurances that he was already regarded as that.

That did not stop Alvarez’s people looking at options and interest is strong, but TBR is told that City have no intention of allowing the Argentine – who is set to play in next month’s Olympics as an over-age player to leave the club.

The 24-year-old is now two years into his stay at the Etihad Stadium and have multiple honours to show for it.

However, there may be some questions as to whether he is a player who City absolutely need to keep if there was a serious offer to land at their door.

What Pep Guardiola has said about Julian Alvarez

There could be an argument made that Alvarez holds a similar role to that of Leandro Trossard at Arsenal.

Neither are necessarily either club’s first choice, but both have proven themselves to produce big goals when their sides need them.

"When you have this positivity and go there, make three runs, two or three crosses, make an outstanding goal again – it's not the first time he scored this type of goal,” Guardiola told the club website after Alvarez’s huge display from the bench in the Champions League last season.

"In 10, 15 minutes the impact was huge. To have these players on the bench with this mentality is really important."

He may be able to provide a huge impact, but he also clearly wants to translate that into becoming the main man and whether he can do so at City will have to be seen.
