Crystal Palace seem to have approached the January transfer window with plenty of ambition.

Dougie Freedman – Director of Football at Selhurst Park – has heeded calls from Oliver Glasner to make early additions rather than wait until deadline day, with Crystal Palace bidding £15m for Ben Doak just days into the New Year.

Furthermore, Crystal Palace have enquired about Romain Esse too as the Eagles look to move away from 15th in the Premier League.

Now – according to the Guardian – Crystal Palace could also make an offer to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon.

Crystal Palace could submit Rayan Cherki bid

The Guardian now claim that Crystal Palace are considering a bid for the 21-year-old.

It is said that Cherki – who has been compared to Eden Hazard – is available for just £15m due to Lyon’s need for cash, and also the fact the France U21 international has now entered the final 18 months of his contract.

However, Crystal Palace do not have a free run at signing the Lyon No.18 with Atalanta – the reigning UEFA Europa League champions – also keen.

Cherki – who Tottenham also want – has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

TBR Football revealed in December that Crystal Palace also admire Ernest Nuamah and Sael Kumbedi in addition to Cherki.

John Textor, who owns Lyon, is also a co-owner of Crystal Palace alongside Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, so the Eagles hope to use their connections to take a player or two from the French giants this month.

Lyon have actually been provisionally relegated from Ligue 1 unless they can raise millions before the season ends, due to financial issues within the club.

Therefore, the Parc Olympique Lyonnais could prove to be a happy hunting ground for Crystal Palace this Winter.
