Watford Head Coach Tom Cleverley knows his side will have to be on top form when they attempt to turn the tables on Cardiff City tomorrow (Tuesday January 14, 7.45pm KO).
Omer Riza’s Bluebirds beat Watford 2-1 at The Vic as recently as December 29 and have remained unbeaten since, drawing two Championship games and knocking Sheffield United out of the FA Cup.
“They seem to have been a little bit more direct recently, and they’ve had some good results from that,” said Cleverley.
“They’re all working hard for Omer, you can see that, and they’re dangerous on the counter-attack.
“We have to be ready for the challenge.”
Cardiff’s win just before the turn of the year ended Cleverley’s unbeaten home record as Head Coach, and his side have had to manage freezing conditions while preparing for their trip to Wales.
The cold weather forced the Hornets to train indoors in the dome over the weekend, but they were able to return to the grass on Monday.
“We’ve spent a couple of days in the dome,” said Cleverley. “That’s not ideal because of the surface, but it’s good that we have it on weekends like this when the freeze is really into the training pitches.
“It was a little bit more mild [on Monday] and we got outside, but we’ve trained as normal in the dome.”
