Rocco Vata bagged his first goal in Watford colours against Hull City on Wednesday night, and it proved to be a timely strike.

The ex-Celtic attacker scored an 87th-minute equaliser as the Hornets salvaged a 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium.

Read on for Vata's thoughts...

On his first Watford goal:

I was really, really excited when it went in. Obviously, it is not as special when it is not a goal that puts you in front, or a goal that wins you a game, but I am still really, really happy. It is a goal I have been waiting for, and that is the kind of position I have been getting into lately. I've not been able to finish [recently] but I am happy that I kept doing it, and it paid off.

On using his frustrations at not scoring as motivation:

I feel like sometimes before the game you have a feeling that you are really going to score. Today, I had that feeling. When I came on I was excited to get into the box and try and land on the end of a cross, because I felt like today was the day I score, and thankfully I got the goal.

On Kwadwo Baah providing the assist:

It is very special for one of my good mates in the team, one of my closest mates, to get the assist. I was happy for him to get another goal contribution - he is flying this season.

On Tom Cleverley labelling him the best finisher at the club:

I don’t know what to say there! There are a lot of good finishers in the team, but it is something I work on every day for maybe an hour after training, so it is good that I finally got a goal after all the practice I have put in.

On looking to kick on and stake a claim for a start:

I am going to keep working hard and working on the out-of-possession stuff in training. When I am playing in a game, I get more experience and more confidence, so the more I play, the more confident I get.
