Watford FC Women won their fourth league game in a row as they eased past Plymouth Argyle in their first outing of 2025.

Goals from Ellie Head and Jessie Gale gave the Golden Girls a 2-0 half-time lead in Tavistock, and strikes from Bianca Baptiste and captain Megan Chandler settled things after the break.

It was an excellent away-day performance from Head Coach Renée Hector's side, who had not played since December 15 due to a pair of postponements.

Their victory also avenged the 1-0 League Cup quarter-final defeat inflicted by the same opposition on December 1.

Poppy Wilson and Coral Haines went close in the opening stages for the visitors, before Flo Fyfe sent a shot wide.

The deadlock was broken after 14 minutes when Head converted the rebound after Gale had struck the post.

Anna Filbey’s header was then kept out but Watford didn’t have to wait too long for their second.

Gale was not to be denied this time as she rounded Plymouth keeper Lily Felgate to double the advantage.

Baptiste’s first goal since returning to the club in November made the game safe after the hour mark, as she blasted home from inside the box just a minute after coming on.

The Hornets saved the best for last, however, as Chandler fired a first-time finish into the top corner from 30 yards.

Today’s win has seen Watford climb up two places to fourth in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division table, ahead of the visit of Lewes next weekend (Sunday January 26, 2pm KO).
