CAF secretary general Mosengo-Omba cleared of fraud charges

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that secretary general Veron Mosengo-Omba will not face legal action.
This comes after an investigation by the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office into payments made to bank accounts in the European country.
The DR Congolese-Swiss football administrator insisted that he was innocent and faced the Swiss prosecutor’s office in the canton of Fribourg in November 2024.
CAF has now issued the following statement making it known that Mosengo-Omba will not face any action over the fraud allegations.
“The Swiss Public Prosecutor's Office has decided that it will stop investigations against Confederation Africane de Football ("CAF") Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba as they found no facts or legal basis to initiate legal proceedings,” a statement read.
“In November 2024, Veron Mosengo-Omba voluntarily travelled to Fribourg Switzerland to answer questions relating to the preliminary investigations.
“CAF welcomes the decision of the Swiss Public Prosecutor's Office and is pleased that there continues to be adherence and compliance within CAF and the CAF Secretariat with the culture and commitment to ethics, transparency and governance that was introduced since the Presidency of Dr Patrice Motsepe.”
