How Drogba influence Osimhen's Galatasaray decision

Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen has explained why he joined Turkish champions Galatasaray in what was a surprise move.

The world-class striker was tipped to join either English giants Chelsea or Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli a few weeks ago, but he ended up moving to Galatasaray on loan from Italy’s SSC Napoli.

Osimhen has now opened up about his transfer and indicated that his Nigeria teammates Henry Onyekuru and Peter Etebo, and Ivorian icon Didier Drogba who are all former Galatasaray players had influenced his decision to join the club.

"To be honest, there were a lot of players I idolized and followed since I was little. Drogba is one of them. Onyekuru and Etebo played here before, I knew the atmosphere was good, I saw it,” Osimhen said on NTVSpor.

“I actually looked online but what I saw in reality was much more magnificent, what I saw here was great. It’s magnificent, what I saw here was great. I’m not saying it because I’m a Galatasaray player and I played here, but when I look at it objectively.”

Galatasaray are arguably the biggest football club in Turkey and Osimhen has praised the club’s fans.

“I’m not saying this because I’m a Galatasaray player and I played here, but when I look at it objectively, the fans make this place incredible,” he added.

“I’ve always said this and I’ll continue to say it, the fans are very passionate and this place is a very big family. It’s really incredible that this place has become an incredibly big club thanks to the fans.”
