Mbeumo and Onana headline Cameroon squad

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo will be hoping to replicate his club form in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after being included in Cameroon’s provisional squad for this month’s double-header against Kenya.

Mbeumo has been on fire for the Bees, scoring five goals in their first six Premier League games, including strikes inside the opening minute against Tottenham and West Ham.

Compatriot Andre Onana has also been called up by Indomitable Lions head coach Marc Brys after keeping three clean sheets in six top-flight appearances for Manchester United.

Christopher Wooh, Andre-Frank Anguissa, Carlos Baleba and Vincent Aboubakar are amongst the other regular faces making an appearance in Brys’ squad, although three players have rejected the chance to make their debut.

According to Cameroon press officer Germain Noel Essengue, Inter Milan centre-back Yann Bisseck, Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe and Luzern midfielder Nicky Beloko are not currently keen to commit to the Centyral African giants.

Brys’ side are second in Group J behind the Harambee Stars after picking up four points from their opening two qualifers. The two teams will meet at the Japoma Stadium in Douala on October 11 before going head-to-head again three days later.
