Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah equaled an English Premier League record held by Wayne Rooney over the weekend.
The experienced winger grabbed a goal and an assist to inspire Liverpool FC to a 2-1 win over Manchester City in a high-profile match played at Anfield Stadium on Sunday.
It was the 36th time that Salah had scored and assisted in a Premier League match – equaling a record held by former England international Rooney.
Widely considered one of the best players of his generation and one of the greatest British players of all time, Rooney turned out for Manchester United and Everton FC in the English top tier.
“36 – Mohamed Salah has scored and assisted in a Premier League game for the 36th time; the joint-most by a player in the competition's history, equalling Wayne Rooney's record (36). King,” a statement read.
It was Salah’s 11th goal in 13 matches – just one behind the league’s top scorer Erling Haaland of Manchester City as the duo goes head to head for the Golden Boot award.
