Over the past few days, we covered claims from Brazil which stated Flamengo want to sign Arsenal’s Jorginho in the winter market.

At the weekend, O Dia reported the demands made by the 33-year-old’s agent is beyond the Brazilian club’s reach.

The midfielder has less than six months left on his contract and RTI Esporte state Arsenal want €10m to let him leave in January. Earlier claims had explained Flamengo are aiming to sign Jorginho on a free transfer.

Mikel Arteta’s side will have to look for the former Napoli man’s successor as his long-term future may be away from the Emirates.

RTI Esporte state the Gunnes ‘choose’ Juventus’ Douglas Luiz as the candidate to replace Jorginho.

The 26-year-old has struggled at the Serie A side since joining them from Aston Villa last summer. He made 17 appearances in all competitions this season and it includes three league starts.

Luiz’s current situation at Juve is one of the reasons for the north London club to launch a ‘possible attack’. His deal lasts until 2029, and the report states Mikel Arteta’s side have to ‘spend a large sum of money’ to secure his services.

According to RTI Esporte, Arsenal have already contacted the Brazil international’s camp to find out about the conditions needed to sign him, likely in January. They further add the English club haven’t made an official offer to Juventus so far.

Perhaps this is all wishful thinking from Juventus – and Luiz – but time will tell on that one.
