Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy that Blackburn Rovers are ‘pressing’ to sign Augustus Kargbo in the winter market. It was also stated he isn’t happy at Cesena FC and is therefore open to leaving them.

TuttoMercatoWeb provides the latest on the Championship side’s interest in the 25-year-old.

Blackburn Rovers looked at signing the forward last summer but weren’t able to get the deal over the line.

TMW point that out, without explaining why Blackburn Rovers failed, and state they have rekindled their interest in Kargbo.

John Eustace’s side have resumed talks to ‘try and reach the white smoke’, meaning to agree a deal for the attacker’s transfer. It’s not made clear whether they contacted the Serie B side, the Sierra Leone international or both.

The English club are currently sixth in the Championship table, so will be hoping to seal a play-off place.

Blackburn Rovers are looking to improve their attack in this window and see Kargbo as a ‘market opportunity’. They are in ongoing contacts to sign the Cesena player.

TMW end their report by stating: ‘An idea that is back in fashion. And it could become something more…’

This suggests there’s a good possibility of Blackburn Rovers finding an agreement with Cesena and whether that’ll be the case remains to be seen.
