Leeds United transfer stance scaring club away – 2 sources say they're now in retreat

Over the past two weeks or so, we’ve covered multiple claims from Austria discussing Red Bull Salzburg’s desire to sign Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber. The centre-back has been open to leaving the Whites in the winter market.
On December 4th, Salzburger Nachrichten reported the Austrian club only had ‘details’ left in their way of signing the defender.
This was played down by Red Bull Salzburg managing director of sport Rouven Schröder. He also stated the Austria club haven’t even made contact with Leeds for the 26-year-old.
Salzburger Nachrichten now cover Red Bull Salzburg interest in the Leeds player and Feyenoord’s Gernot Trauner.
They have an urgent need to strengthen defence to fix the ‘immediate crisis’, but the report states Wöber and Trauner won’t arrive in January.
It’s claimed the ‘financial reasons’ have made it ‘difficult’ for them to sign the Whites man and Trauner.
Another Austrian newspaper, Die Presse, also states Leeds’ high demands make it difficult for Red Bull Salzburg to sign Wöber next month. The two sources state they are walking away from a deal for the Austria international because of the asking price.
