Chelsea have completed a deal with Sporting Club de Portugal for Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo after performing a 'lightning operation' this week.

That's according to A Bola, who provide the details on the transfer today after reports of it being done yesterday.

They explain that Chelsea have actually secured a double signing from Sporting, doing a deal for Quenda and teammate Dário Essugo in 'one fell swoop'.

According to the newspaper's information, the double deal for the two was closed in the last few hours with all parties walking away happily.

The two transfers have been dealt with separately following intense rounds of negotiations on Monday, when Chelsea officials arrived in London to close the deals.

Quenda has been signed in a €51m operation, signing a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge with the option of another year. The Portuguese side will receive that figure immediately and it will not include bonuses or variables despite claims yesterday that they could take it to €75m and even €100m.

He will remain in Portugal for another year before moving to Chelsea permanently in the summer of 2026. Quenda will received a boosted salary as of next season, though.

The deal for Assugo, who is currently on loan at Las Palmas, is practically closed and will be made official in te next few hours. Sporting will received €22m for him and there won't be any bonuses or variables included in that either.

He will move to London in the summer once his loan deal at Las Palmas is concluded. Chelsea had initially offered €18m, which was rejected, but upped their bid to get a deal done and avoid competition from Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham.

The double deal is now expected to be finalised in the coming hours after a confusing and curious 24 hours that have seen the story develop from Quenda being sold in a deal worth €75m minimum to Quenda and Assugo both being sold for around the same price instead.
