Crystal Palace and Ipswich overtake Man U as most likely transfer destination for outcast

When this international break ends there will be little over 5 weeks to go until the January transfer window opens. It seems crazy – but the midway point always comes around faster than one expects.

The Blues have established a really solid A team and B team, but there's also plenty of scope for them to add new weapons too.

As much as some players have worked their way into the team, some have had it shown pretty brutally that they're not even remotely part of the future – and there's nobody more squarely in that situation than Ben Chilwell.

Not long ago he was a key player and a regular captain. Now he's just a haircut that appears occasionally, out of focus in the back of training photos. It was obvious he was up for sale in the summer – now it's even more obvious. But who will take him on?

Chilwell's Premier League options look most

Casting our minds back to September, there were pretty convincing links to Crystal Palace and Ipswich.

Talk of Atletico Madrid and Manchester United looks a little fanciful right now, and a solid 6 month freeze out for the former Leicester man will surely have convinced him that he's best served moving on rather than wasting more time trying to jump from 3rd or 4th in the queue for minutes at left back to the front.

Of course our sporting directors would far prefer to sell him and have the problem sorted, but they will be feeling the squeeze as much as Chilwell by now, and could probably stomach a loan until the end of the season if the taker is willing to pay the majority of his wages.

Compromise, as ever, looks the best solution.
