Mathys Tel hasn't rejected a move to Chelsea but he wants to continue at Bayern as it's his dream to succeed there according to Fabrizio Romano.

The January transfer window is in full swing and it feels like things are starting to gather momentum at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were expected to be quiet this month, but they have already recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace to help out defensively given injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

The Blues are reportedly still looking at centre backs despite recalling Chalobah, but they are also looking for reinforcements at the other end of the pitch.

Nicolas Jackson has done well this season, scoring nine league goals but Chelsea currently have no alternative to the 23-year-old, with Christopher Nkunku not delivering when given the chance and Marc Guiu very raw and inexperienced.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Liam Delap, but they are also pursuing a move for 19-year-old Tel, with Bayern interested in signing Nkunku.

Tel is reportedly valued in excess of £40m, whilst Chelsea are believed to value Nkunku at around £65m, and whilst it wouldn't be a swap deal the two transfers are somewhat linked.

Romano has now provided an update on the state of the play with Tel and Nkunku and it appears there's still a long way to go.

"The conversation between Chelsea and Bayern over Nkunku is ongoing, but as of now, no progress has been made," he told his YouTube channel.

"It's difficult because Tel wants to continue at Bayern; he's not rejected Chelsea, but he's said his dream is to succeed at Bayern.

"Nkunku's agent remains in talks with Bayern, personal terms not agreed but won't be a problem. Waiting to see what happens next!"

If Chelsea are to bring in another attacker then it seems to make room Nkunku will need to leave, but whether Bayern are prepared to meet the £65m valuation remains to be seen, and this could be a saga that runs right up to deadline day.
