Chelsea are at crossroads in regards to Jadon Sancho, but one of his former coaches thinks he could thrive in a new position.

The Blues signed Sancho on deadline day last summer on an initial loan deal, with an obligation to buy for around £25m providing Chelsea don't finish in the bottom six.

The expectation is Sancho still becomes a Chelsea player at the end of the season, but reports emerged recently the Blues could pay a penalty fee to send the winger back to Manchester United.

David Ornstein has reported the penalty fee is just £5m and given Sancho's current form it's a small price to pay if the Blues decide to go back on the deal.

It's been reported Chelsea are giving consideration to sending Sancho back, and the 24-year-old hasn't scored since December, whilst he has just two goals and an assist since the end of September.

Sancho is really struggling and the Blues need him to pick up his form ahead of a difficult run-in, with Chelsea looking to win the Conference League and secure Champions League football.

Dan Micciche, who worked with Sancho at Under 15 and 16 level with England believes he could thrive in a new position whether at Chelsea or United.

"Jadon would have to play as a left-sided number ten, I couldn't see him play as a wing-back. Can he play there? Yeah, absolutely. I think he could play for Ruben Amorim in his system," he told The Sun.

"It might actually suit him more – in terms of freeing him up. He wouldn't be hugging the touchline as much, he would be in the middle of the pitch more and would have more options when he gets the ball."

Sancho made a great start to life at Chelsea with three assists in his first three games, whilst he got his first goals for the club against Southampton and Tottenham, and the Blues could do with him returning to that form.
