Morecambe FC star Jordan Slew has sent a warning to Chelsea ahead of their FA Cup third-round showdown at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Slew, 32, has been in fine form, scoring in Morecambe's 2-0 first-round win at Worthing and again in their 1-0 second-round victory over Bradford City.

The Shrimps, who currently sit 23rd in League Two, the fourth-tier of English football, are now eyeing up a famous FA Cup giant killing.

To do that, they must overcome Chelsea, who are sat fourth in the Premier League table but are on a four-match winless run and could be vulnerable.

‘The pressure's on them,’ Slew said ahead of the FA Cup clash. ‘We're there to try to cause an upset.

‘They have better quality than us, that's standard. But it only takes one moment to change everything.

‘That's what we're going to go there for. There might be one chance in the game. If we take it and defend well, you never know what'll happen.

‘I think it's a free hit for us and we're going to go there, work extremely hard – we're going to have to – and hopefully we can create some cheer for the crowd.’

History is on the line for Morecambe, with the Shrimps having never reached the fourth round of the FA Cup in their 105 years as a club.

The League Two strugglers will be boosted by 3,000 travelling fans at Stamford Bridge as they hope to pull off a stunning upset in west London.

‘It's been tough for [our fans] in the league,’ Slew added. ‘So for us to get to the third round and getting a big side like Chelsea, I'm made up for them, and us as well.

‘I just hope they have a good day out and we can give them something to cheer about.

‘If I play I'm going to be up against some of the best players in the world, so it's going to be different. But who knows, if I get a chance, hopefully I can take it and it'd be three [goals] in three.’
