The Spireites return to League Two action this afternoon, for the first time since New Year's Day, as they travel to the East coast to face Grimsby Town. The Mariners currently sit ninth in the table, just one place and three points above the Spireites, but Paul Cook's side have a game in hand and a better goal difference with the chance to overtake Saturday's hosts. Grimsby have failed to win either of their two games so far in 2025, falling to defeats against Accrington Stanley (3-2) and Bradford City (3-1). Today's game will be the Mariners' first home fixture at Blundell Park since the turn of the year. Head-to-head The Spireites have come up against Grimsby twice already this season, both at the SMH Group Stadium, with Chesterfield coming out on top on both occasions. The first was a 2-1 win in September in the league and the second was a 3-2 thriller in the Vertu Trophy, with James Berry scoring in both.
