Women's team return to action

Chesterfield FC Women travel to Sherwood, at 2pm this afternoon, in their first fixture of 2025, at Oakfield Construction Arena, NG7 5EH. Andrea Parkinson's side ran out 1-0 winners in the reverse fixture, at Shirebrook Academy, with Tia Mcdonagh scoring the only goal of the game on her debut. Andrea said: "It was a good win; we'd signed Tia that week and she got the goal on her debut. It was a good tight game and hopefully we can be on the end of a good result again." This will be the team's first game since December 22, which has allowed the squad plenty of time to prepare and allow injured players to recover. Andrea commented: "For the first time now, I've had the difficult conversations with some players to say that they've not made the matchday squad as we had been going to games without a full team. It helps, having the competition for places and knowing that we've got a full squad but also, I've got the headache of choosing a squad.
