The Blues host Spurs looking for points at Goodison Park

Live Blog

Fulltime Thoughts - It was nervy at the end there, but 3-2 the final score, Everton beat Tottenham for just the second time in 25 Premier League games. Moyes will be disappointed by how they closed out the game.

90+4' - Spurs are just pumping the ball upfront, but Everton have been able to repel them.
Now DCL wins a foul at the midline, and that should be it. Final whistle, Everton have just their fourth win of the season.

90+2' - Moore wins a corner. Taken short, into the box, and Richarlison scores! Keane just fell asleep at the back post and let the Brazilian ghost in and make it 3-2. Uh oh.

90' - The whole stadium and everyone in Blue though Doucs won a corner there off Davies, but the ref didn't. There will be another four or so minutes added on.

86' - Bouncing ball that DCL is about to get to but Kinsky is quick off his line to tap it away.
Doucs hunting the ball down to prevent a goalkick, eventually a freekick but it burns a good couple of minutes with the ball in the safe end.

84' - Moore cross from the left, falls to Richy in the box, stabbed shot is blocked, comes back to him and he hits it again, and it dribbles to Pickford, phew.

81' - Ndiaye goes off, and Patterson is on. Young has switched to left wingback now, Patto is right wingback.
Spurs corner, bounces about in the box and O'Brien clears.

77' - Spurs have scored. Maddison gets into space on the right, Pickford is out to challenge him very far off his line, he finds Bergvall whose shot is charged down, falls to Kulusevski who chips half a dozen players and scores in an empty net. Everton lead 3-1 now.

74' - Now Spurs are charging forward in a 4-2-4, Kulusevski cross just in front of Richy and Pickford was in no-man's land there.

72' - Everton play out the back (!!) and have a spell of possession on the right. Now they're hunting in a pack to win the ball back with Young, O'Brien and Doucoure making life difficult for Spurs on the Toffees' right.
Spence gets some space down the Everton right, his cross into the middle, JOB tries to cut it out, falls to Maddison and his shot is wayward. Spur's first shot attempt in forty minutes, wow.
Doucoure can cross.. Kinsky just steps off his line and cuts that out.

70' - Jesper Lindstrom is coming off, easily his best showing in the blue shirt, and he's getting a big round of applause from the crowd. Ashley Young is on for him to bolster the backline.

66' - Tarky beats Richy in the air. Then slides in to cut out a searching pass, he's been very good today, more like last season than this season's version of the defender.
Spurs win a corner that they take short, but Everton can come away with it and have possession. A poor ball from O'Brien catches Mangala short, he has to foul Kulusevski but Doucoure gets booked for delaying play.

63' - Maddison turnover and Bergvall fouls Ndiaye, on the edge of the middle third again. Lindstrom's freekick is flat and whizzes wide of the far post, no one really attacked the space in front of the goalie.

61' - Everton charge forward through DCL and Ndiaye, sets up Mykolenko for a shot, ooof, that was horrible.
Kinsky mistake playing out, Lindstrom collects and gives it to DCL, back to goal, he swivels and shoots... wide of the far post. So close!

58' - Spurs with a nifty spell of possession on the Everton left, Maddison's cross blocked for a corner. Corner in and headed back out for another. DCL heads this one out, Ndiaye is looking to break and Maddison comes flying over him, foul.
Doucoure wins a long ball, Lindstrom in space, trying to pick out a man but it's cleared. Lindstrom has had a very good game today.

56' - Ndiaye showing his workrate here. A poor pass to Gana turned the ball over, so he chased it and hounded the Spurs player Sarr until he just fell over. The ref blew for a foul, but that is how Ndiaye helps get the ball back for the Blues.

54' - Nice move by Ndiaye down the left, low cross towards the waiting DCL in the box but too many Spurs players in there and they clear.

52' - Davies goes through the back of DCL's legs, freekick about the edge of the middle third. Lindstrom lines up over it, low and DCL gets his head to it but not on target.
Funny shot there of Branthwaite and Richarlison pushing and shoving each other, with the Everton defender seemingly have a laugh while the Brazilian was being very intense as he usually is when playing.

50' - The visitors are getting plenty of the ball here with Maddison on the ball. JOB barges him off it to give away a freekick. Then Maddison dallies on the ball too long in the Everton box and JOB, Gana and Lindstrom all combine to nick it away, and then the Spurs player tugs Lindstrom down as he's running away with the ball.

48' - Spurs have started strong here, looking to get something back early in the second half.

46' - Second half underway, Spurs have gone back to a 4-3-3 with Richarlison replacing Dragusin.

Halftime Thoughts - A brilliant half for Everton, first time in eight years we've scored three here in the first half of a game. Just need to maintain their discipline in the second half to get the three points.

45+10' - There's halftime finally, glad to see it was the Toffees who took advantage of all the time added on. Everton 3-0 Tottenham at the break!

45+7' - Corner into the box, Dragusin had a handful of Tarky's shirt as he dragged him down but no penalty and VAR concurs. Huh.
Blues force another corner, as Lindstrom's cross is cut out. Corner cleared, comes back to the Dane, whose deep cross is headed back across goal by Tarky, DCL flicks on.. goal!!! Ricochet off Spurs' Gray and into the net, it's an own goal, Everton lead 3-0!!!!

45+5' - Tarkowski steps in to cut out a promising-looking move for Spurs. Everton are actually stroking the ball around here, players are getting into spaces and the crowd is loving it.
Lindstrom fouled near the sideline. Freekick floated into the box just ahead of the goalie, Tarky gets in with a diving header, and a great save from Kinsky keeps him out!

45+2' - Play finally back underway, and it's going to be close to ten minutes added on here.

45' - Dragusin still getting attention, the announcement is that we will have at least seven minutes of time added on here.

42' - DCL and Dragusin go up for a high ball and the Spurs defender goes down heavily. Looks like DCL's arm caught him above the eye, there's a cut there and he's getting field-dressed. The Everton striker meanwhile is booked for that. Wasn't really intentional, only had eyes on the ball.

40' - Ndiaye finds DCL streaking down the left, fouled by Bergvall who gets booked too for his protestations. Ndiaye ball into the box, but Mangala is eventually offside. Gana is back on the pitch, looks like he will try gut it out until the break.

37' - Gana makes a tackle on Kulusevski, and needs some attention. Youngster Harrison Armstrong is warming up.

35' - Goodison Park is loud now, there's a hum going about the ground and now the crowd breaks into "Eeeeeverton, you've never shone so brightly..."

34' - Bergvall shot from distance, goes over. Pickford's goalkick falls to Ndiaye who tries to play DCL in, defender steps in, just.

30' - OH MY GOODNESS WHO ARE THESE BOYS?? Ndiaye gets the ball on the left at the halfline, runs at pace against the defence, skips around Dragusin and hammers his left-footed shot past Kinsky into the roof of the net, it's 2-0!!

28' - Now Spurs counter, Son alone with Branthwaite, turns away from the defender and Branthwaite with a clumsy barge into the forward, who goes down! Ref immediately says no penalty, whew. VAR confirms that, but that was poor from the defender.

27' - Post!! Everton set up DCL on the edge of the area, he finds Mangala and his curling shot is finger-tipped onto the post!! Cross back into the box, DCL header straight at Kinsky. It's buzzing here.

25' - Ooof Dommmmmmm. DCL wide open behind the Spurs backline and DCL makes a hash of it and allows the goalie to charge the ball down! He could have chipped the goalie ten yards ago!

24' - Porro finds Kulusevski in the right channel, he centres for Son and his shot is drilled right at Pickford, whew. Everton got very lucky there, Spurs are getting plenty of joy in the channels.

21' - Spurs attacking with numbers on the left, JOB sliding tackle to give away another corner. Deep from Son, Pickford gets a hand to it and Gueye gets it out for a throw-in. Spence shot blocked, and now Porro's cross for another corner.
Taken short, but the Blues were tuned in and ball is eventually cleared.

19' - Now Son bursts through on the Everton right and looks to shoot.. here comes Tarky with a brilliant sliding tackle to stop him.

17' - Tarky looooong ball up to DCL, he's through on goal.. makes a hash of it to be honest, but he's well offside as well.

13' - WHAT A GOAL!! DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN'S GOAL DROUGHT IS OVER, AND IN WHAT STYLE!!!
Spurs lose the ball in the middle, Lindstrom to Mangala to Gueye, he finds DCL, and the striker turns in tight quarters, evades three men and wrongfoots the goalie to open the scoring, 1-0 to the Blues!

12' - Lindstrom goes streaking down the right, Ndiaye and Gana get in each other's way with the former getting off a shot, blocked by Radusin.

7' - Shot! Lindstrom with a good shot from outside the box, going towards the far post and goalie Kinsky palms it away for a corner.
Game is paused for a bit here as there are communication issues with VAR. That's a new one.
Lindstrom will take, O'Brien is planted right in front of the goalie in the middle. Into the box, Spurs partly clear and JOB jumps in to keep the ball and lands heavily. Blues have a throw that he will take himself, goes out for a goalkick.

4' - Branthwaite caught on the ball by Spence, pass to Son and Mangala slides in to clear.
Now Spurs have a corner, but the Blues combine to clear. Ndiaye dallied on the ball too long but got lucky, and Lindstrom did well to prevent another corner.

2' - Early chance to put the ball in the box as Gueye is fouled in the middle after a combined tackle to win the ball off Son. Branthwaite pumps it in, and it's cleared.

1' - Underway at Goodison, only a few games left to be played at this hallowed ground.

Starting Lineups

Everton - Moyes goes with a back three, what we saw against Villa when chasing a goal.

Tottenham - Richarlison is on the bench against the Blues.

Preview

After a midweek defeat at home to Aston Villa, Everton will be looking to restart the new David Moyes era with just nine games left to play at Goodison Park.

Tottenham have their own struggles and after a hot start to the Ange Postecoglu era, find themselves sitting just above the Toffees in the Premier League table, albeit with a lot more points already in the bag.

Last Meeting

Everton's games against Spurs always tend to be entertaining affairs, even at the Blues' expense at times. In the first leg of this clash, the Blues were run ragged as Tottenham cruised to a 4-0 win early in the season. The two sides had battled to a 2-2 draw at Goodison in the same fixture last season.
