Nottingham Forest are doing superbly well in the Premier League this season and right now they’re riding the crest of a wave.

There have been several top performers across the first 11 games with Forest sitting in fifth place in the Premier League table.

Nuno Espirito Santo has worked wonders during pre-season and right now, Forest are one of two clubs in the whole country to remain unbeaten away from home.

Several pundits have already been forced to back down from their high horses after some rather erratic pre-season predictions.

Gary Lineker called himself an ‘idiot’ for his Forest prediction, whilst Robbie Earle has also backed down on his tip that Forest might get relegated.

Alan Shearer has been very complimentary about Chris Wood, whilst Elliot Anderson and Nikola Milenkovic have earned rave reviews as summer signings.

With the international break almost over, Forest can look forward to getting back on the pitch and trying to right some wrongs from the defeat to Newcastle.

Leon Osman picks Nottingham Forest star as Best Premier League Player this season

It’s quite amazing to hear pundits raving about Forest – and it’s something that will never grow tiresome.

After years of ridicule for a somewhat scattergun transfer policy, people outside of the club are actually starting to take a bit of notice of the club.

Several pundits have been asked to pick some awards for the Premier League season so far and Leon Osman has named Chris Wood as his Best Player.

The striker has been in fine form bagging eight goals from 11 appearances this season, adding to the 15 he scored in all competitions during 2023/24.

Wood was given a new nickname by a New Zealand commentator after a hat-trick for the national team earlier this week.

Now, Osman has picked him for the accolade at this stage of the campaign and the £80,000-a-week Wood will hope to keep scoring in the coming weeks.

Wood deserves new Forest contract

The Reds striker has literally silenced his critics beyond belief at the City Ground after eyebrows were raised once he was signed.

He didn’t enjoy a brilliant six months after his signing and appeared unfit when he first checked in from Newcastle.

Now, Wood has become an idol in the eyes of supporters and ultimately the club has to do whatever it takes to keep him on Trentside.

Losing a player who is scoring goals for fun isn’t ideal and although a younger striker could be utilised in the squad, keeping Wood could make the transition smoother.

Right now, the Forest talisman is so important and it’s hard to fathom that the club would let him walk away for free next summer.
