Nottingham Forest have come from behind to earn a share of the spoils against Brighton this afternoon at the AMEX Stadium.

The Reds ensured it wasn’t a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show, following on from last weekend’s magnificent 1-0 win over Liverpool.

Chris Wood fired Forest into the lead from the penalty spot but two goals in three minutes from Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck just before half-time transformed the game.

Forest made three substitutes at half-time, with Neco Williams in particular struggling to get into the game – and things looked bleak.

All was not lost though and after a brilliant break, Jota Silva teed up Ramon Sosa to score his first goal in English football and earn Forest a share of the spoils.

Morgan Gibbs-White sent off for Nottingham Forest

The big talking point of the 2-2 draw was sadly about the standard of Premier League match officials once more.

Gibbs-White was shown a second yellow card late on, but it was an incident that the officials won’t look back on with too much fondness.

After the 24-year-old seemingly tackled Joao Pedro, referee Rob Jones signalled that the Forest star had played the ball.

However, the incident was right in front of the fourth official – Anthony Taylor – and just moments later, Jones changed his mind and sent Gibbs-White on his way.

It saw Forest play out the closing stages with a man less than Brighton but the team did manage to stand firm.

Premier League deliver instant reaction to Gibbs-White sending off

This season, the key match incidents are being relayed on X immediately after so that fans can grasp why a decision has been reached.

On X after the Gibbs-White incident, the Premier League said: “The referee issued a second yellow card to Gibbs-White for a reckless challenge on Pedro.

“Fabian Hurzeler and Nuno Espirito Santo were both sent off for their unacceptable technical area behaviour following the incident.”

Ultimately, this isn’t what the fans need cleaning up on the incident that will see Forest play Fulham next weekend without Gibbs-White.

The reason why Jones didn’t give a free kick and signalled that the player made contact with the ball is the real talking point.

Was Anthony Taylor so desperate to get involved after not being given a game to referee this weekend that he simply decided to make his mark on this one?

The instant reaction suggests we’ll probably never know but once again this sees Rob Jones in the spotlight after last season when he incorrectly sent off Willy Boly.
