Agent reveals he 'fought' for player to not join Nottingham Forest – CEO pushed for summer move

In the summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest were a potential suitor for Edoardo Bove.
The midfielder joined Fiorentina from AS Roma instead and some weeks ago, he collapsed on the pitch after a cardiac arrest. He had a defibrillator inserted and because of that, the ex-Roma man may have to depart the Serie A due to regulations.
The 22-year-old’s future is uncertain and his agent Diego Tavano has now opened up on the background about the player’s links with Nottingham Forest in the summer.
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Tavano revealed that former Roma CEO Lina Souloukou pushed for the move to Nuno Esperito Santo’s side. He also feared that the player would get loaned out to Forest's partner club Olympiacos.
He said, as relayed by SiamoLaRoma: "He [former manager Daniele de Rossi] told me that Bove could stay but that he would have a lot of competition. I told him that it had to be the season of consecration, it was important to play consistently."
"From there, strong pressure began from the former CEO [Souloukou] to take him away. It all culminated on August 30, when she wanted to push me to accept the transfer to Nottingham for €8m.
Speaking further about the failed move, Tavano said: "For me there was the shadow of a loan to Olympiacos from Nottingham Forest and then I considered that value low."
"We fought, I reassured her. I would find a solution more pleasing to everyone, which would have made the club earn more. For us, this solution was only Fiorentina. De Rossi, however, always advised the club to give Edo the possibility of returning."
It does seem a the move to Nottingham Forest could have gone through, if Tavano had not gone against the possibility.
With Souloukou now having joined the multi-club model at Nottingham Forest and doubts over Bove’s future in Serie A, it could be interesting to see if the midfielder ends up under Nuno Santo.
