On Friday morning, we covered claims from France which stated Wolves were moving forward with an attempt to sign Emmanuel Agbadou and were willing to pay a significant amount to Stade de Reims to secure the Ivory Coast international.

By Friday evening, we covering claims – again from France – that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs. That agreement, which was obviously a provisional one, would see the defender move to Wolves for around €20m.

It was explained that the deal had been managed by Gestifute, so Wolves are being given a helping hand from Uncle Jorge Mendes.

L’Union, the French newspaper closest to Stade de Reims has an article on the transfer today, which is obviously a weighty deal for the Ligue 1 side.

Club president Jean-Pierre Caillot is quoted confirming the move: “The two clubs have reached an agreement. Same thing for the player and his representatives. All he has to do is pass his medical and sign his contract.

“Emmanuel was expected to leave last summer, but Stuttgart’s offer didn’t suit us. Several clubs were interested, but Wolverhampton’s offer couldn’t be refused.”

According to L’Union, Wolves are paying €20m excluding bonuses for Agbadou, just three months after he extended his contract until 2028.

Now it’s simply a case of passing a medical and signing the contract.
