Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones took to social media to send a message to Mohamed Salah after confessing he believes Eden Hazard is better than the Egypt international.
The 23-year-old set Salah, 32, up for Liverpool’s opener in their 2-1 Champions League win over Lille on Tuesday (January 21) with an inch-perfect through ball.
Speaking to ex-Man United star turned pundit Rio Ferdinand on TNT Sports' Between The Lines, Jones admitted to idolising the former Chelsea star and made the surprise claim he is a “better footballer” than the Anfield icon he plays alongside.
Jones said: "I wouldn't say he's disrespected but he might not come into certain talks that he should, and the talk with Mo and all the lads. But as a footballer, is he better than Mo? In my opinion, yes."
Canada international Jonathan David bagged the equaliser for Lille in the 62nd minute, but Harvey Elliott secured the win for Liverpool just five minutes later.
Liverpool became the first side to qualify for the knock-out round, having won all seven of their Champions League league phase games.

Jones is having a real breakout season under Arne Slot, starting 17 of his 27 games across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing six assists in his 1464 minutes of action.
Salah, on the other hand, has arguably been the best player in the world over the last six months, starting 29 of his 31 games across all competitions, scoring 22 goals, and 17 assists in his 2600 minutes on the field.
The England international took to Instagram after the win over Lille to share an image of the two celebrating the opener against the French side.
Liverpool’s attention will return to the Premier League on Saturday (January 25) as they prepare for a visit from relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.
Slot’s side will then face Dutch giants PSV for their final Champions League league phase game of the season, hoping to keep their 100 per cent record intact.
