Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has taken to social media to celebrate “a good week” but remains adamant his side aren’t in the title race.

The 44-year-old has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Chelsea, guiding the West London club ten places higher in the table compared to their standing at this stage last season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea are second in the table with 34 points, two behind league leaders Liverpool, although the Merseyside club have a game in hand, after their 2-1 win over Brentford.

Maresca has Chelsea playing some fantastic football, leading the way in terms of goals scored with 37, just one goal off their total for the entirety of their 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

The Italian remains surprisingly blase regarding the title race despite their good run of form, telling the press after the win over Brentford: "No matter how many games we win, I think we are not ready to compete for the title.

"One of the reasons why is that the team that knows how to compete to win titles, they won't concede goals we concede. A team that knows how to win titles, that is not a goal they know how to concede.

Maresca has a 71 per cent win percentage at Chelsea, currently better than the 68 per cent he achieved in his Championship winning season at Leicester.

The West London club are taking the season game-by-game, however, with Maresca taking to Instagram to wish “A good week to all the Chelsea Fans,” after wins over Tottenham, FC Astana, and Brentford.

Chelsea will face Irish club Shamrock Rovers in their sixth Europa Conference League game of the season on Thursday (December 19) as they seek to keep their 100 per cent record intact.

Attention will then return to the Premier League as Maresca's side travel to face Sean Dyche's Everton on Sunday (December 22).
