Chelsea and Man City targets Pedri and Gavi set to sign new Barcelona contracts

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that Chelsea and Manchester City have had a longstanding interest in signing Pedri and Gavi.

However, sources have told TBR Football that the midfield duo have signed fresh five-year deals at Barcelona.

Pedri, 22 and Gavi, 20 were attracting interest from several clubs in Europe, apart from Chelsea and Manchester City such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who were also keeping tabs on their respective situations.

However, the Blaugrana gems’ new contracts are also set to include €1billion buy-out clauses.

TBR Football also understands that a contract extension for Lamine Yamal is close.

However, the Spanish international will only be tied down to fresh terms once he turns 18 in July.

How Barcelona afforded Pedri and Gavi new contracts

Barcelona have sold their executive boxes as their new redeveloped Spotify Camp Nou stadium has allowed them to push ahead and finalise two hugely important deals.

Pedri and Gavi are the future of Barcelona.

Having to let either of them leave, much like Yamal would have been a devastating blow for the Catalan giants.

Pedri has four goals and four assists in all competitions this season, despite largely playing as a controller in midfield while Gavi, who returned from a lengthy injury spell in October has already registered two goals and three assists.
