Sabah have reported on Fenerbahce's inconsistent start to the season despite the high-profile players they brought in during the summer, and the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

Sofyan Amrabat, Youssef En-Nesyri, Allan Saint-Maximin and Filip Kostić were all brought in by Mourinho, but their exit from the Champions League and a heavy defeat to Galatasaray at the weekend has raised questions.

The Turkish media outlet believe an issue at the moment is the departure of Ferdi Kadıoğlu after his move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

He joined the Premier League side for a record transfer fee for a player purchased from the Super Lig, and Sabah believe his exit is seriously affecting the team.

Last season the Turkey international's attacking instincts, and his link up with Dušan Tadić down the left side, brought Fenerbahce success.

However, Sabah have highlighted last weekend's left sided partnership of Jayden Oosterwolde and Allan Saint-Maximin, which wasn't effective during the defeat to Galatasaray.

Fener had tried to address the situation after the player's move to Brighton, but they were unable to bring in an experienced left back to replace him.

Kadıoğlu has since made his full debut for Brighton, scoring in the Seagulls 3-2 victory over Wolves in the EFL Cup.
