West Ham United have the chance to put things right in their Carabao Cup third round clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.

Julen Lopetegui just hasn’t been able to find any consistency since taking over at West Ham, with the defeat to Chelsea last time out the worst performance of the season.

However, all could be forgotten if the Hammers go to Anfield and book their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The West Ham boss can’t have any complaints about the summer transfer window as the owners backed him fully, with over £100 million spent on the likes of Max Kilman and Crysencio Summerville.

Niclas Fullkrug was the striker option West Ham opted to go with, but he’s already suffered an injury which has made things difficult.

Now, in a boost for Lopetegui and West Ham, one of their primary summer targets has been made available by his current club.

Jhon Duran made available for transfer by Aston Villa

West Ham are still leaning on the likes of Michail Antonio and Danny Ings to lead their line after Fullkrug’s injury, which hasn’t worked out too well for them.

The need for a young, quick striker is already evident just five games into the Premier League season, but the Hammers will now have to wait until January.

Interestingly, a player Julen Lopetegui tried to sign in the summer transfer window has just been made available.

According to Give Me Sport, Unai Emery is open to letting Jhon Duran leave Aston Villa.

Emery is open to cashing in on Duran provided the incoming funds are reinvested into the squad, but he is not actively seeking a buyer. Villa likes the idea of keeping him for the entire season before reassessing their stance in the summer.

Jhon Duran’s season to date at Aston Villa

Jhon Duran has been one of the standout performers for Aston Villa this season, saving them on two recent occasions.

He has already scored five goals in seven games this season and four goals in four substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Late goals against Wolves and Everton have extended the Villans’ winning streak to three games, with Luis Diaz and Morgan Rogers impressed with Duran during his performance against Everton.

Interestingly, Fabrizio Romano (as per Give Me Sport) revealed during the summer that he was West Ham’s ‘dream target’, so they could look to revisit a potential deal.
