Arsenal have shown considerable progression over recent years with the Gunners putting two title pushes together over the last two seasons.

Mikel Arteta‘s side are looking like they are going to be among the top sides this season following their performance on the weekend.

Despite going behind against Manchester City, Arsenal showed their quality in establishing themselves in the game and taking the lead.

And it has to be remembered Arsenal did that without their captain Martin Odegaard who remains sidelined through injury.

The continual development from the north London side is seriously exciting for Arsenal fans and it just goes to show the efforts going in at London Colney.

Arsenal defender is striving to improve under Mikel Arteta

The north London side established themselves as the strongest defence in the Premier League with the fewest goals conceded.

That can largely be put down to the partnership of Williams Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes who have formed one of the best centre-back pairings across Europe.

And the pair have carried their form from last season into the early stages of this term with the second-fewest goals allowed.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the £100k-per-week Gabriel is working behind the scenes to continue his development as a defender under Arteta.

“I’m a big fan of Gabriel and William Saliba, they are an incredible and fantastic duo, for sure,” he said in his Daily Briefing.

“Saliba’s development was perfect. The Marseille chapter allowed him to adapt to pressure and get to an important level, so credits to Edu who found the best way for Saliba in order to have the player back at Arsenal and ready to become the beast he is right now.

“And Gabriel… another top player. A super professional who is always studying how to improve, he was an excellent signing from Lille when other clubs (especially Napoli and Juventus) wanted him.”

Gabriel Magalhaes is proving a real attacking threat

Over the last year or so, Gabriel has established himself as a real attacking threat having returned a seriously impressive four goals in the league.

Inside the opening five games of this season, Gabriel has produced two goals with two headers in the last two games.

And they have been huge goals considering they came against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Whatever Gabriel is actually doing behind the scenes to polish his game is clearly working with the centre-back doing more than just his job as he pops up with some crucial goals.
