Jack Porter, Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly in line for Arsenal starts against Bolton

The Athletic have reported that Mikel Arteta is looking to hand 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter his senior debut for Arsenal.

Arteta is also set to hand midfield duo Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly their first starts for the Gunners, added the report.

Furthermore, the Arsenal boss will apparently aim to start experienced forwards Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling in a bid to get their match fitness up.

Why is Jack Porter set to start for Arsenal against Bolton?

First-choice goalkeeper David Raya left the Etihad Stadium on Sunday showing some signs of a knock, so Arteta won’t risk him for the Bolton game.

Meanwhile, experienced deputy Neto is cup-tied after playing for Bournemouth earlier in the competition

And with youth summer signing Tommy Setford currently on the sidelines due to injury, Arteta will turn to Porter, according to the report.

Good chance for Arsenal youngsters to make names for themselves

Porter’s expected start will come as a surprise, though with the Gunners having so many issues in goal for the game, it’s a decision that makes sense.

Meanwhile, the “absolutely unbelievable” Nwaneri and the “special” Lewis-Skelly have been in and around the first team for a while now.

It’s about time they got a start and it’ll be good to see what they can do from the off.
