From Spain: Fabio Silva to return to Wolves – Las Palmas can't afford their wage %

As Fabio Silva loan moves go, and there’s been four since he joined Wolves from FC Porto in 2020, his time at UD Las Palmas has gone rather well.
Following spells at Anderlecht, PSV and Rangers, Silva’s camp decided that it would be Spanish football which suited him best so went around trying to secure a La Liga club.
Las Palmas decided they’d give him an opportunity and worked out an agreement with Wolves which meant they had to really make it work.
As reported by the club’s local newspaper, La Provincia, Fabio Silva’s contract with Wolves gets him €5m a year. Las Palmas agreed to pay a ‘high percentage’ of that, which the newspaper puts at around €3m.
That’s a huge amount for them.
The 22-year-old has played 12 matches as a centre forward this season, scoring five goals and adding two assists.
He has a contract with Wolves lasting until June 2026, and La Provincia make clear he’ll be back at the Premier League club come the summer.
A source at the Spanish club is quoted as saying: “A good part of the salary is paid by us and there is no option of continuity beyond June 30th.”
That would appear to be that then.
There’s rumours of interest from Villarreal, and a lot will depend on how the rest of the season goes. Wolves may also want to take another look at their player over the summer.
