Mohamed Salah is a Premier League great.

Salah is a Ballon d'Or contender after his incredible form so far this season, and he's been utterly incredible for Liverpool for a long time.

Salah's consistency is there for all to see, he's been utterly remarkable for Liverpool for a long time, and he's in the conversation as one of the best Premier League players ever.

However, speaking on Between the Lines, Curtis Jones has claimed that one Premier League winger was actually a better footballer than Salah.

Indeed, controversially, Curtis Jones argued that Eden Hazard in his prime was a better footballer than Salah.

Eden Hazard a better footballer than Mohamed Salah

Jones shared his verdict on this debate.

Darren Bent said that Salah was better than Hazard, but Jones thinks that the Belgian is the better footballer, even if Salah is more effective.

"I like to watch other players. Older players, the likes of Zidane, he's the one for me, and for everybody. More than just goals and assists, the stuff he does on the pitch, his composure, he's never rushed.

"My one, and I know this could go a bit left with our fans because the comparison is there, but Hazard. Hazard is the one, I know he's compared to Mo all the time, and I've been into it with Mo.

"I say as a player I saw from when I was a kid, Hazard was the one, every game I'd watch and I'd say that's football.

"Now, he's disrespected, he's not in certain talks that he should. As a footballer, is he better than Mo? In my opinion, yes, but who would you rather have in your team? Mo because he gets goals and assists."

Eden Hazard compared to Mohamed Salah

It's interesting that Jones makes this claim, because, once upon a time, these two were teammates.

Indeed, Salah and Hazard's spells at Chelsea did overlap, and Chelsea clearly thought Hazard was the better player at that time as they built the team around the Belgian while Salah was quickly shipped out.

However, when you compare these two players' stats, there's a clear winner.

Statistically, Salah wipes the floor with Hazard, but, as we all know, football isn't played with a calculator or a pen and paper.

Hazard did things on the pitch that were simply unquantifiable, and that's why he's considered amongst the best of the best, even if his stats aren't as impressive as others.

Salah vs Hazard is a debate that is bound to continue splitting opinions, but, despite playing alongside Salah for years, Jones actually thinks that Hazard is the better footballer.
