Arsenal secured their second win of the UEFA Champions League this season with an unremarkable 1-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk.

An own goal courtesy of goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk was enough for the Gunners to secure all three points against the Ukrainian giants, though Arsenal lost Riccardo Calafiori to injury, adding to Mikel Arteta’s potential squad problems for Sunday’s tie against Liverpool.

Leandro Trossard’s missed penalty was the other main talking point of the night, with the Belgian international failing to convert from the spot and give Arsenal a 2-0 lead against Shakhtar at the Emirates Stadium.

And Gabriel Martinelli has now predicted what Trossard could now do in Arsenal’s next game.

Trossard tipped ‘to play well’ in Arsenal’s next game vs Liverpool

Speaking to TNT Sports, the Brazil international backed Trossard to impress in Arsenal’s next game after missing a penalty last night, with the Gunners facing Liverpool in what will be a huge Premier League fixture.

Chris Sutton slated Trossard for his penalty miss for Arsenal with the former Brighton & Hove Albion star more than aware that he should have put his chance to bed to double the north London side’s lead against Shakhtar.

Yet for Martinelli, the entire Arsenal squad are behind Trossard and giving him the support he needs heading into Sunday’s massive Premier League tie, where the Belgian international will want to impress after his disappointing display last night.

Martinelli said when asked about Trossard’s penalty miss and how the team are feeling towards the forward: "He could have scored but we are behind him, supporting him. We know his quality and we go again. I'm sure he's going to play well in the next game."

Trossard can be key for Arsenal in their upcoming fixtures

Having lost to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, Arsenal already face a mountain of sorts when it comes to challenging for the Premier League, with the Gunners already four points off league leaders Liverpool.

Yet even after missing a penalty this week in the Champions League, Trossard could still be key for Arsenal in their upcoming games, with Liverpool the obvious test this weekend at the Emirates Stadium.

Indeed, Trossard scored against the Reds in this exact fixture last season as the Gunners won 3-1 against Liverpool, and the winger will want to show just how good he can be for Arsenal even after a penalty miss against Shakhtar.
