Celso Sidney spent a year at West Ham United’s academy during the 2018/19 season, and it’s left a mark on him.

The forward joined the Hammers on a free transfer in July 2018 and was part of their U18 squad that season.

West Ham released the 23-year-old in the summer of 2019, and he ended up moving to lower division Portuguese side SC Mirandela on a free transfer.

Wednesday’s edition of O Jogo has relayed comments made by the former West Ham youngster on various topics.

Despite staying with the Premier League club for only a year, he explains how his experience with the Hammers has benefited him.

“I learned a lot, even speaking English, something I consider very important for a player. It was also good to discover other worlds, other training conditions and other professionalism,” he said.

Since leaving the London club, the attacker changed clubs multiple times over the years. Last summer, he joined third division Portuguese club Lusitânia FC and his contract with them expires in June.

The attacker scored three goals from 17 games for Lusitânia and hopes to return to the UK in the future, after his past experience with West Ham.

“I'm working to return to England one day. My dream is to play in the Premier League,” Sidney explained.

Sidney needs to first establish himself in the top division in Portugal in order to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League in the future.
